Medical Transcriptionist – Day Position – CancerCare Manitoba – Winnipeg, MB

Reporting to the Resource Coordinator of the Health Information Services Department, the Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for creating accurate and timely patient care reports onsite by transcribing medical dictation from clinical providers. Consistent with the policies of CCMB, the incumbent must maintain confidentiality and privacy of patients at all times. The successful candidate must have the flexibility to move between MacCharles and St. Boniface sites as assigned. The successful candidate will be provided two weeks of training preferably on days

  • Applicant must be a high school graduate (Grade XII) or equivalent
  • Must have one of the following:
    • Successfully completed a recognized medical transcription program
    • Minimum of 1 year experience working as a medical transcriptionist
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and enjoy working in a team environment
  • Must hold a satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

Will be performed during the testing process:

  • Medical Terminology Test – 70% passing rate
  • Medical Dictation Typing Test – 70% accuracy
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Programs and electronic medical records
  • Proficiency in dictating/transcribing systems
  • Experience volunteering or working in a healthcare environment
  • Working experience with ARIA
  • Ability to speak French

Salary: As per CUPE Collective Agreement
