The Opportunity The Roll Off Driver is responsible for the hauling of customer waste from industrial, commercial, and institutional sites. The driver is responsible for performing assigned duties on container delivery and hauling of industrial roll-off routes. This physically strenuous position involves mounting and dismounting a 10 ton vehicle numerous times each day. Job DutiesSatisfy customer needs for serviceEnsure that service is completed in accordance with established policiesResponsible for daily pre and post trip inspections, and daily driver log bookComplete an assigned daily route as assigned by DispatchDaily route consists of driving to customer sites, secure bin on truck, empty bin at transfer station/landfill, return bin to customer sitePerform driver check-ins at day’s end to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion.Ensure assigned routes are completed in a timely and safe mannerEnsure that all protocols are followed while dumping loads at municipal recycling/waste facilitiesRequired to tarp loadsRequired to be able to lift the Roll-Off hook and attach it to the bin, requires bending and ability to lift 25-50 poundsMay perform some additional responsibilities as assigned by the Route Supervisor/Site ManagerRequired to follow all applicable Provincial and Federal transportation laws Qualifications1-2 years driving experience in a transportation sector (Minimum for insurability)Commercial Driver’s license – Minimum class 3 with Airbrakes, preference for Class 1 that can tow pup trailerStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong customer focusKnowledge of the cityProven ability to multi-task & ability to prioritize tasksKnowledge of industry an asset GFL Environmental is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
