Bulk Tank Truck Driver – Tandet Logistics Inc. – Winnipeg, MB

We are a safety-oriented Transportation company involved in the movement of both Liquid and Dry bulk chemicals to and from the United States and Canada. Our operations in Winnipeg are currently looking for qualified Bulk Tank drivers or Owner Operators or potential Owner Operators with a lease to own program in a newer version truck (details to be given upon contact). We have just solidified some new business and need to fill these positions quickly. Training can be provided if needed.

The Tank Truck Driver is responsible for transporting bulk products to various locations in Canada and the US to support of our core customer groups. The candidate is required to self-load and unload as well as drive long and short distances. The qualified applicant must possess the ability to work without direct supervision, and deliver the load on-time and in a safe manner that complies with regulations. The candidate will be responsible for the cargo, ensuring it is being handled appropriately and is being transported and handled in the safest possible ways while ensuring efficient practices. The Tank Truck Driver will also be required to know, understand and abide by all applicable legislation, including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.

Candidates must be able to pass a pre-screening drug and alcohol test and possess the ability to cross international borders into the United States.

Job Duties

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, the application of safe practices, and compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
  • Ensure that all safety equipment, including personal protective equipment, is accessible and in good working condition
  • Periodically review the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and other applicable acts to ensure an up to date knowledge of safety standards
  • Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and the load, ensuring safety and roadworthiness
  • Comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation, occupational health and safety, the transportation of dangerous goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensions
  • Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Perform basic maintenance as required
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable federal regulations
  • Record and maintain required documentation, including bills of lading, Delivery Acceptance Forms, Driver trip sheets…etc. by manual or electronic means
  • Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers, both verbally and in writing
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks
  • Understand procedures and be prepared for any spills
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems
  • Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. This may include daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
  • Train others when required
  • Other related duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Certification from recognized Truck Driving School
  • Class 1/A driver’s license
  • Air brake endorsement (Z)
  • Computer literate
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
  • Proven ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Strong work ethic
  • Professional/mature demeanour under stressful situations
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
