Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Under the general supervision of the Manager or Pathology/Hematology Supervisor, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Shared Health, the Secretary is responsible for: performing various secretarial duties related to the Laboratory Services, to include: typing/word processing, arranging meetings, attending meetings and recording minutes; assembling budget information and sending out computerized billings; maintaining weekly payroll cards, filing, photocopying, assembling teaching materials; and performing other related duties as assigned.
The transcriptionist portion of this position is responsible for transcribing and typing/word processing Pathologist reports; dictatyping gross reports from the cutting area; retrieving cytology reports to match with appropriate biopsy requests; organize reports for distribution and filing; performing data entry duties and performing other related duties as assigned.
- Two (2) years related secretarial experience, preferably in a heath care setting
- Computer software experience, including word processing experience
- Grade XII
- Successful completion of a recognized medical secretarial program including medical terminology
Qualifications and Skills
- Computer (Novell Network) and accessories
- Fax Machine
- Slide maker
- Dictation equipment
- Keyboard speed 55 wpm
- Dictatyping skills
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in current and related software applications
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Knowledge of AP System
- Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Mathematical aptitude
- Excellent telephone skills
