L1 Insulation Worker (2 Vacancies)

Role:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the L1 Insulation Worker is responsible for fabricating components from pressboard and other insulating materials for use in transformer assembly, under supervision and guidance.

Role Responsibilities:

* Interpreting drawings, specifications, BOM, REI, NCR, special instructions, etc. to accomplish tasks, adhering to established MI’s * Gathering required materials

  • Moving required materials from storage area to appropriate machines
  • Developing cutting list with minimal supervision by analyzing and interpreting blueprints and BOM
  • Preparing basic cutting list and assist in the preparation of cutting lists for more complex components
  • Laying out of materials by reading, analyzing, interpreting blueprints, BOM, and cutting list
  • Assisting with the design, fabrication, and utilization of templates for the laying out of complex components * Under supervision, using BOM to determine required sizes and quantities
  • Sub-assembling of basic components.
  • Identifying manufactured components
  • Insulating and any other items requiring taping
  • Completing work assignments to established practices
  • Setting up production equipment

Job Requirements:

* Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Carpentry certificate would be an asset
  • Full knowledge of hand and power tool use
  • Carpentry experience would be an asset
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, would be an asset

* Ability to read, understand, and interpret basic drawings, sketches, and engineering specification blueprints * Basic mathematical knowledge to perform general calculations subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, calculation of angles

  • Ability to work in both metric and imperial dimensions
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a team environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Ability to obtain the following training as required: fall protection, WHMIS, and other safe work training applicable to Insulation
