Production Stage Technician – Canad Inns – Winnipeg, MB

The Production Stage technician acts as a resource to, and provides recommendations to the General Manager and through the General Manager to the appropriate support areas within the Canad organization. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the Metropolitan standards relating to event production and customer service are met or exceeded. This position will be responsible for the production quality of all house events. The technician will review all standards and provide ongoing updates to the General Manager of the facility and communicate appropriately.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

¨ Ensuring the highest quality of services are delivered within cost constraints by managing, prioritizing property maintenance requirements

¨ Supervises proper storage of all tools, equipment and supplies

¨ Assesses needs and produces action plans and task lists for subordinates

¨ Coordinates the inventory, purchasing and disbursement of supplies with GM approval

¨ Ensures that proper sanitation practices are followed

¨ Provides training to subordinates, ensuring ability to safely perform duties.

¨ Performs other duties as required including duties of subordinates

¨ Adjusts duties and tasks for self and subordinates to respond to new priorities

¨ Ability to respond to after-hours or emergency calls

¨ Communicates and reinforces the vision for Canad Four Star Service to employees

¨ Uses teamwork to support guests and employees

¨ Performs other duties as required to provide Canad Four Star Standards in Service

¨ Observe and ensure Safe Work practices are followed at all sites at all times. This position is also expected to be a health and safety leader within the venue working by setting a positive example to all other staff and management team members.

¨ Coordinate and manage emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment

¨ Manage and coordinate internal and external vendors as it pertains to entertainment operations

¨ Perform regular property inspections of equipment, stage areas, green rooms

¨ Show working knowledge of fire alarms, extinguishers.

¨ Determine needed supplies and equipment.

¨ Monitor need for equipment maintenance and repair.

¨ Responsible for proper inventory of materials and supplies.

¨ Read and interpret equipment manuals.

¨ Ensure health & safety compliance and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

¨ Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly.

¨ Prepare reports and budgets as requested.

¨ Other duties as assigned relating to event production or venue operations.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

¨ The Audio-Visual Event Technician is required for a high-volume banquet and conference facility.

¨ Understanding of the fundamentals of live sound and video including the setting up & operation of the equipment required for today’s current audio and video presentations.

¨ Equipment used to perform the duties of the Audio-Visual Event Technician includes microphones, audio mixers, video playback devices, stage lighting, video cameras, computers and computer programs such as PowerPoint and Keynote.

¨ Be professional, approachable, work well in stressful situations and be customer service focused.

¨ The ability to acquire “Smart Choice” certification, and a Criminal Record Check are required.

¨ Intermediate fundamentals of sound and the ability to apply audio applications

¨ Intermediate understanding of DMX lighting, programming and execution

¨ Intermediate understanding of Video control signals, resolutions and output formats

¨ Intermediate to Advanced Windows and Mac knowledge

¨ Comfortable use of Ariel lift platforms, and working with heights

¨ Ability to work a multitude of shifts, variable scheduling, including night shifts, weekend and holidays.

¨ Ability to work at full capacity during high stress events and productions.

¨ Ability to troubleshoot equipment regarding sound / lighting / video

¨ Ability to assess and execute technical solutions in a timely manner

¨ Inventory control – secured assets.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The Audio-Visual Event Technician must work within a loud environment in a fast-paced atmosphere that is often stressful, deal with large crowds and ensure equipment and supplies are efficient and sufficient.

Candidates MUST be able to perform job duties for entire duration of shift while working quickly and quietly
